The Open Athenaeum

The Librarian

Ask the shelves. Receive an answer, and the doors it came through.

The Librarian is a machine reader in the library's service. Ask it a question and it walks the shelves, answers from what the library actually holds, and names every entry it drew from. If the shelves do not hold an answer, it says so plainly. It recommends nothing it cannot cite, and it holds the librarian's posture, never the priest's.

The Librarian is free and rate-limited, answers only from these shelves, and can still err; the entries themselves are the record. Questions pass to an AI service to be answered, so ask about the texts, not about yourself, and share nothing personal. For heavy hours, a person is better than a library: the Librarian will always say so.
